Description

8-Tracks is a compilation album by Pink Floyd, released on 5 June 2026 via Sony Music/Legacy Recordings, built around a deliberate triple play on the number eight: eight songs, spanning eight years (1971–1979), presented in a format that nods to the 8-track cartridge technology that was ubiquitous during the band's commercial peak. Curated and sequenced by producer Steven Wilson, the 43-minute collection draws from six of the band's most celebrated albums — Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall — and is designed to flow as a single continuous listening experience, with Wilson incorporating sound effects sourced from the original multitrack tapes as connective tissue between songs. The tracklist comprises "One of These Days," "Wot's… Uh the Deal," "Money," "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2," "Wish You Were Here," "Time," "Comfortably Numb," and a closing version of "Pigs on the Wing."

The album's most notable inclusion is that closing track: the complete version of "Pigs on the Wing" from the original 1977 Animals 8-track cartridge, which joins the song's two bookending parts with a guitar solo by Snowy White that was absent from the standard LP release and had not been widely available since that original format. Wilson edited this version using the original multitracks to integrate it seamlessly into the compilation's flow. The release was made available in multiple formats, including standard black vinyl, a limited-edition blue vinyl, a Target-exclusive pink vinyl pressing, and CD, and is intended both as an entry point for new listeners and a carefully curated collection for longtime fans.
