Roxane Bruneau’s Acrophobie is her second studio album, released on October 30, 2020 on Disques Artic, and conceived as a very personal follow-up to her debut Dysphorie. Built around 14 tracks and running just over 40 minutes, it expands her earlier folk‑pop framework into a bigger, more synth‑driven pop sound while keeping her direct, conversational songwriting at the center. The record includes songs like the title track Acrophobie, Aime-moi encore, Bienvenue dans mon cirque, À ma manière, and others that helped push the album into the Quebec Top 10, where it eventually went gold and earned multiple Félix awards and nominations for pop album and popular success.

Thematically, Acrophobie (named after the irrational fear of heights) is anchored in Bruneau’s anxieties about success, visibility, and falling from the “heights” she has reached since her breakthrough. Written entirely by Bruneau, with music co-composed alongside producer Mathieu Brisset, the album focuses on doubts, fears, and self-questioning—fear of disappearing, of not being good enough, of no longer being loved—using a very intimate first-person voice that critics praise for its authenticity and emotional clarity. Reviews highlight how she “writes with her guts” and how her confessional lyrics are carried by strong melodies, sticky refrains, and straightforward arrangements, allowing deeply personal material to feel universal; as one La Presse critic noted, the album’s pop songs are “direct au cœur,” driven by a voice that openly shows anger, tenderness, and fragility.
