Description

Aurora is the 24th studio album by English progressive rock band Yes, released on June 12, 2026 via InsideOut Music/Sony Music. Produced by guitarist Steve Howe — his third consecutive Yes album in the producer's chair, following The Quest (2021) and Mirror to the Sky (2023) — the album features the same lineup throughout: Howe on guitars and vocals, Geoff Downes on keyboards, Jon Davison on lead vocals, Billy Sherwood on bass and vocals, and Jay Schellen on drums. Notably, this marks only the fifth time in Yes's nearly 60-year history that two consecutive studio albums have been recorded with an identical lineup. A significant addition to the album's sound is the 64-piece Czech National Symphony Orchestra, which appears on several tracks including the orchestrally expansive title track — the first prominent use of orchestration in a Yes album since Magnification in 2001. The artwork, as has been the custom for decades, was created by Roger Dean alongside his daughter Freya Dean.

The album's eight main tracks run just under 50 minutes, with two bonus tracks bringing the total to just over 59 minutes. It opens with the seven-and-a-half-minute symphonic title track "Aurora," followed by the more radio-friendly "Turnaround Situation" — on which Davison contributes keyboards throughout — and the melodic "Love Lies Dreaming." The album's centerpiece is "Countermovement," an ambitious 13-minute progressive suite that provides the record's most expansive musical statement. Further tracks include the mythology-inspired, orchestra-backed "Ariadne," the wordless vocal composition "Outside the Box," and the closing "Emotional Intelligence," with bonus tracks "Jambustin'" and "Watching the River Roll" rounding out the deluxe editions, which were released in multiple vinyl and CD/Blu-ray formats featuring Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround mixes.
