Back to Titanic (Music From The Motion Picture) is the second soundtrack album for James Cameron’s 1997 film, released in 1998 as a companion to the massively successful original Titanic: Music from the Motion Picture. Rather than simply duplicating the first disc, James Horner uses it to expand the score’s world: it combines extended orchestral suites, previously unreleased cues, and newly recorded source music heard on‑screen, effectively offering a deeper dive into both the film’s dramatic underscoring and its period dance‑hall ambience.

The album opens with the nearly 20‑minute “Titanic Suite,” which weaves together many of the score’s principal themes—heroic, romantic, and tragic—into a single, symphonic arc. From there it moves through diegetic pieces like “An Irish Party in Third Class” by Gaelic Storm, I Salonisti’s performances of “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” and “Nearer My God to Thee,” Horner’s set‑piece cues “Jack Dawson’s Luck,” “A Building Panic,” “Lament,” and “A Shore Never Reached,” and a film‑dialogue version of “My Heart Will Go On,” before closing with the 12‑minute epilogue “The Deep and Timeless Sea.” Together these tracks give the album a more narrative flow than the first soundtrack, tracing the ship’s life—from carefree revelry through catastrophe to remembrance—while highlighting Horner’s blend of Celtic colours, lush romanticism, and mournful, oceanic sonorities that made Titanic’s music so enduring.
