Description

BITCH is the fifth studio album by American singer and rapper Lizzo, released on June 5, 2026 via Nice Life and Atlantic Records — a date that also happened to be her 38th birthday. The album was announced on April 27 and replaces a previously planned project titled Love in Real Life, which was shelved after its early singles struggled to gain traction. Co-written and co-produced with longtime collaborator Ricky Reed alongside Blake Slatkin, Pop Wansel, Cheche Alara, and Nate Mercereau, the 12-track, 35-minute record draws on a wide sonic palette encompassing pop, R&B, hip-hop, synth-funk, soul, go-go music, and jazz. Its title is a deliberate act of reclamation — as Lizzo has stated, "it has become my favorite word when using it on my own terms," and the album takes inspiration from Meredith Brooks' 1997 song of the same name as well as the work of Missy Elliott.

Thematically, BITCH is built around self-definition, empowerment, vulnerability, and personal growth. Where Lizzo's earlier albums Cuz I Love You and Special centered on self-empowerment, this record pivots toward self-defense and self-reliance. It opens with "A Toast," a piano-led, orchestrally backed ballad that functions as a cathartic goodbye, before moving through the romantic "Happy 2 Be," the lead single "Don't Make Me Love U," the swaggering title track, and the go-go-inflected "Sexy Ladies" — a reworking of UCB's 2022 track which itself drew from a 1987 source. The album closes with "Goodmorning!," rounding out a set that Lizzo described as "a thank you to the past and a hello to the present" for a new chapter in her career.
