Tyler, the Creator came out of Los Angeles as the ringleader of the Odd Future collective, pairing grimy, self-produced beats with shock-heavy humor and a restless DIY streak. Early records like Goblin and Wolf are raw, abrasive, and deliberately unruly, but they also reveal the melodic instincts and sharp ear for arrangement that would become central to his later work. Cherry Bomb pushed further into blown-out funk, jazz chords, and dense production, sounding chaotic in places but full of ideas.

Flower Boy marked a striking turn toward warmer soul textures, intimate writing, and carefully layered songs, while IGOR shaped heartbreak into a vivid run of synth-funk, R&B, and warped pop. Call Me If You Get Lost brought his rapping back to the foreground over lush, globe-trotting production, with DJ Drama supplying the mixtape energy. Across these records, Tyler’s appeal lies in the way he keeps revising his own sound without losing his personality: funny, prickly, vulnerable, and deeply involved in every musical detail.
