Description

Dalliance is the debut EP from Chase Atlantic, the Australian alternative trio consisting of brothers Mitchel and Christian Anthony alongside Christian's childhood friend Clinton Cave. Released on May 16, 2014, the five-track EP runs approximately 18 minutes and introduced the band to international audiences with a sound that drew immediate comparisons to The 1975 — melodically polished, guitar-driven alternative pop with a moody, atmospheric edge. The EP was released under BMG Rights Management and helped establish the band's early identity before they relocated from Australia to Los Angeles to pursue their career more seriously.

The tracklist moves through a range of moods and tempos. Opening track "Anchor Tattoo" sets an energetic, punk-inflected tone before "Gravity" and "Hold Your Breath" pull back into slower, more introspective territory. "Run Away" rounds out the original material before the EP closes with a remix of "Gravity" by So Much Higher, offering a lighter, more atmospheric take on the song. Pop Scoop praised it as "one of the best Aussie releases" of that year, noting how the different tracks felt refreshing in their stylistic range. Dalliance has since taken on a cult significance in the Chase Atlantic catalog — the band has reissued it on limited vinyl — serving as a snapshot of a young group with a natural instinct for melodic hooks before they went on to develop the darker, more R&B-inflected sound that would define their later work.
