Dead Tired - 10th Anniversary Edition
Dead Tired
Dead Tired is a five-piece hardcore punk band from Hamilton, Ontario, formed in 2014 and fronted by George Pettit of Alexisonfire fame. Their self-titled debut album was originally released on March 17, 2015 via New Damage Records, comprising 12 tracks with a runtime of roughly 26 minutes. The record draws heavily on hardcore, thrash punk, and sludge influences — citing touchstones like Black Flag, D.R.I., the Dead Kennedys, and early Converge — delivered with a fast, ferocious energy that immediately distinguished it from Pettit's previous work with Alexisonfire. Tracks like "Court of Public Opinion," "Punks at the Gym," and the title track showcase the band's knack for short, punishing bursts of punk energy, with the occasional slower, moodier passage that hints at the band's range.
The 10th Anniversary Edition, released in 2025, revisits this debut in celebratory fashion. It is pressed on Neon Coral with Black Splatter coloured vinyl and comes bundled with a bonus "The Boys Mix" 7" on red vinyl — a nod to the band's track "Punks at the Gym" receiving a sync deal for the Amazon Prime series The Boys, in which the band also appeared. The reissue honours the scrappy, irreverent spirit of the original release: the band's own bio openly acknowledges they don't care much for self-promotion, crediting their creative process partly to free beer and their Hamilton jam space, which perhaps says everything you need to know about the unpretentious, no-frills ethos that made the debut so compelling in the first place.
