Released on June 1, 2018 through Napalm Records, Downfall of Mankind is the third full-length album by São Paulo thrash-metal trio Nervosa. Built around Fernanda Lira’s barked, venomous vocals and bass, Prika Amaral’s sharp riffing, and Luana Dametto’s rapid, forceful drumming, the record delivers a compact 48-minute assault of old-school thrash intensity, hardcore urgency, and death-metal weight. The core edition contains 13 songs, beginning with a brief ominous introduction before launching into “Horrordome,” while some editions add the bonus track “Selfish Battle.”

Musically, the album favors dense, palm-muted riffs, speed-driven rhythms, harsh vocal attack, and a raw, abrasive production that gives its songs a confrontational feel. Tracks such as “Never Forget, Never Repeat,” “Enslave,” “Bleeding,” “…And Justice for Whom?,” “Vultures,” and “Raise Your Fist!” keep the momentum high, but the lyrics also sharpen the album’s purpose: they address violence, political and social oppression, injustice, and sexual violence. “Cultura do Estupro” (“Rape Culture”) features additional vocals from João Gordo of Ratos de Porão, while the bonus track brings in guitarist Michael Gilbert of Flotsam and Jetsam and drummer Rodrigo Oliveira of Korzus. Downfall of Mankind consequently stands as a direct, socially charged thrash record—less concerned with polish than with rage, rhythmic impact, and refusal to look away.
