Dream Chaser is the 79th solo studio album by Willie Nelson — his 156th album overall — released May 29, 2026 via Legacy Recordings, arriving one month after Nelson turned 93. Announced in March 2026 alongside the title track as its lead single, the record continues Nelson's long-running creative partnership with producer and co-writer Buddy Cannon, a collaboration that has yielded nearly 20 albums over the past thirteen years. Cannon co-wrote eight of the ten tracks on the album, six of them alongside Nelson directly, with Bobby Tomberlin contributing to three of those. The ten songs run just under thirty-one minutes, rooted in classic country songwriting traditions and focused, as MusicRow described it, on "relationships, personal growth, and life on the road" — universal themes of perseverance, timing, and clarity.

Among the album's most notable moments is "I Can't Read Your Mind," co-written by Nelson, Cannon, and Bob Dylan — the first time Nelson and Dylan have co-written a song since Across the Borderline in 1993, as noted by
Wikipedia — which opens with the disarmingly simple line "I don't know how to read your mind / The letters are too small." Apple Music also singled out "Developing My Pictures," a barely-touched Earl Montgomery composition that George Jones recorded in the 1960s, and "Fly Away," described as an alcoholic's quiet surrender, as exceptional moments within the album's mostly reflective, midtempo flow. Producer Cannon told reviewers that Dream Chaser is "one of my very favorite albums I've done with Willie" — a remark that, given the breadth of their collaboration, carries considerable weight.
