Tank’s Filth Hounds of Hades (Deluxe Edition) expands the British trio’s ferocious 1982 debut, one of the defining records of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Fronted by former Damned bassist Algy Ward, with guitarist Peter Brabbs and drummer Mark Brabbs, Tank fused heavy metal’s riff power with punk’s stripped-down speed, street-level attitude, and rough-edged production. The original 10-song album is packed with compact, hard-driving tracks—“Shellshock,” “Struck by Lightning,” “Run Like Hell,” “Blood, Guts and Beer,” “T.W.D.A.M.O.,” “Turn Your Head Around,” “Heavy Artillery,” and the title song—while “(He Fell in Love With a) Stormtrooper” supplies a longer, more dramatic climax. The sound is often compared to Motörhead, but Tank’s bluesy guitar hooks and Ward’s gravelly voice give it a character all its own.

The 2026 Deluxe Edition, issued on CD and vinyl in August, presents the core album alongside a substantial archival expansion. The first disc adds singles and B-sides such as “Don’t Walk Away,” “The Snake,” “Steppin’ on a Landmine,” and single versions of “Shellshock” and “Stormtrooper,” while the CD’s second disc collects 1981 live recordings, radio sessions, and early demos. Those extras show how directly the band translated its attack to the stage: fast, loud, unfussy, and built for maximum impact.
