Flow State is the thirteenth studio album by Australian-American country star Keith Urban, released on June 12, 2026 via Hit Red Records and MCA Nashville. The project emerged unexpectedly from a casual studio session: after purchasing and restoring a Nashville studio called The Sound (formerly known as The Tracking Room), Urban invited producer Dann Huff — his longtime collaborator — to record a few yacht rock covers simply to break the space in. The results were so energizing that what began as one or two songs grew into a full eleven-track album over the course of several months. As Urban described it to the AP, the record functions as "one long exhale" — a deliberate turn away from modern tension toward the warmth, polish, and melodic optimism of late-1970s and early-1980s soft rock.

Ten of the album's eleven tracks are covers of yacht rock staples, including Robbie Dupree's "Steal Away," Player's "Baby Come Back," Bill Withers and Grover Washington Jr.'s "Just the Two of Us," Seals & Crofts' "Summer Breeze," and Little River Band's "Help Is on Its Way," among others. The sole original, "We Go Back," co-written with BRELAND, Sam Sumser, and Sean Small in 2020, is a nostalgic duet with Doobie Brothers legend Michael McDonald about two former lovers reconnecting later in life. Additional collaborations round out the album's roster of guests: Little Big Town joins Urban on Walter Egan's "Magnet and Steel," and John Mayer appears on a new interpretation of Bread's "Guitar Man." Urban has been careful to note that the album neither attempts slavish replication of the originals nor radically reinvents them — it sits, as he put it, somewhere in the middle, with his own sonic signatures woven through familiar material.
