’Twas the Night Before Christmas (1974), another Rankin/Bass holiday special, is based on the famous Clement Clarke Moore poem. The story takes place in the town of Junctionville, where Santa threatens to skip Christmas because of a critical letter written to him by a skeptical mouse family. To restore Santa’s faith, a human clockmaker named Joshua Trundle and his friends work tirelessly to build a large clock tower that will play a special song as an apology and invitation for Santa to return. This heartwarming tale blends themes of belief, forgiveness, and the magic of Christmas.
