Get Some!
Nashville Pussy
Get Some! is the fourth studio album from Atlanta-based hard rock band Nashville Pussy, originally released September 20, 2005 on Spitfire Records and reissued in 2026 as a 20th anniversary pressing on Reptilian Records. Produced by Daniel Rey — best known for his work with the Ramones and White Zombie — the record finds the band's core lineup of vocalist and guitarist Blaine Cartwright, lead guitarist Ruyter Suys, and drummer Jeremy Thompson joined by new bassist Karen Cuda, who replaced a prior member for the sessions. Compared to their earlier, more punk-inflected work, Get Some! leans deeper into traditional hard rock territory, trading some of the band's raw speed for what metal.de described as "damn good melodies and more sophisticated songs" — still raunch-soaked and unapologetic, but with a tighter, more classic rock-rooted approach.
The 13-track album opens with the blunt-force swagger of "Pussy Time" and charges through originals like "Come On Come On," "Hate and Whisky," and "Atlanta's Still Burning," while also pulling in well-chosen covers that showcase the band's deep love of rock history. Rick Richards of the Georgia Satellites — and fellow traveler Izzy Stradlin — contributes fiery slide guitar to the two-minute barnburner "Raisin' Hell Again," while Ike and Tina Turner's "Nutbush City Limits" gets a full Pussy-fied treatment and Ace Frehley's "Snowblind" (from his 1978 KISS solo album) arrives with cowbell intact. PiercingMetal gave the album an 8/10, calling it "a total in your face Hard Rock experience," and Louder Sound later described it as something that "rocks like Ozzy's left testicle" — which, for Nashville Pussy, reads as high praise.
