Description

Les Shirley’s Hail Mary is the Montreal trio’s third studio album, released September 25, 2026, through Duprince. Produced and mixed by Graham Walsh, the 12-track, approximately 35-minute collection combines punchy pop-punk, guitar-driven rock, and melodic hooks with lyrics about queer identity, toxic relationships, economic pressure, and inequality. Raphaëlle Chouinard handles guitar and lead vocals, with Sarah Dion on bass and Lisandre Bourdages on drums, both contributing backing vocals. Its defining spirit is defiance: the opening title track takes aim at patriarchy and entitlement, rejecting the expectation that women should remain quiet or accommodating.

That outward-facing anger sits alongside more personal forms of conflict. “PLAYER2” explores self-sabotage with biting irony, while “Not My Problem” turns frustration into a liberating statement of refusal. “Bad News” addresses the exhaustion of confronting a world in which rights and social boundaries remain under threat, and “Born a Man” questions gender conditioning through sharp lyrics and an accessible melody. Closing track “Fortune Teller” brings the record’s weariness and determination together, leaving its frustrations unresolved rather than offering an easy escape. The title’s reference to a desperate last attempt ties those concerns together: Hail Mary channels pressure into direct, energetic songs that make room for both vulnerability and resistance.
