Description

Leon Bridges’ Happiness Anytime is his fifth studio album, released September 25, 2026, through Columbia Records. Produced by Jungle’s J Lloyd-Watson and Lydia Kitto, the 12-track collection brings his warm soul vocals into a more rhythm-centered setting, drawing on Afrobeat, Brazilian music, disco, and funk. Its guiding impulse is movement: supple bass lines, bright horns, and intricate guitar parts make the arrangements feel inviting and physical without overwhelming Bridges’ relaxed delivery. Opener “Light the Way” establishes that balance, while “Your Love Is Electric,” “Talk It Over,” and the title track carry the emphasis on infectious grooves and melodic immediacy.

The approximately 38-minute album also leaves room for intimacy and spontaneity. “All Day, All Night,” featuring Kitto, slows into a languid duet, while “Talk It Over” places relationship frustration against a buoyant bass line, letting emotional tension coexist with danceable music. On “Take My Hand,” bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Eric Harland were encouraged to capture the song in a single take, reflecting the loose, performance-led spirit of the sessions. Released initially in three four-song installments, the complete sequence closes with “Please Don’t Say Goodbye,” bringing its exploration of connection back to a more vulnerable register. Throughout, Bridges keeps his voice at the center while opening his sound to a broader range of rhythms and textures.
