Description

HNDRXX (pronounced “Hendrix”) is Future’s sixth studio album, released on February 24, 2017 via A1 Recordings, Freebandz, and Epic Records, just one week after his self‑titled album FUTURE. Spanning 19 tracks and about 76 minutes, it’s named after his “Future Hendrix” alter ego and leans much more into melodic, R&B‑inflected territory than its harder, trap‑heavy predecessor. The tracklist opens with “My Collection” and includes songs like “Comin Out Strong” (featuring The Weeknd), “Lookin Exotic,” “Damage,” “Use Me,” “Incredible,” “Hallucinating,” “I Thank U,” “New Illuminati,” “Turn On Me,” “Selfish” (with Rihanna), “Solo,” “Sorry,” “PIE” (with Chris Brown), and “You Da Baddest” (with Nicki Minaj). The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, following FUTURE at No. 1 the week before and making Future the first artist ever to have two different albums debut at the top of the chart in consecutive weeks.

Musically and thematically, HNDRXX presents Future as a conflicted, emotionally open “rock star,” trading many of the aggressive bangers and street anthems of FUTURE for slower, smoother songs about relationships, fame, hurt, and self‑reflection. Tracks such as “My Collection,” “Use Me,” “Incredible,” and “Sorry” dwell on trust issues, past partners, and the fallout of his lifestyle, while collaborations like “Comin Out Strong” and “Selfish” wrap those concerns in lush, radio‑friendly production and big hooks from The Weeknd and Rihanna. Across the album, he blends Auto‑Tuned crooning with occasional rapping over bright, airy beats, positioning HNDRXX as the “for the sheets” counterpart to FUTURE’s “for the streets”—a companion piece that highlights how central vulnerability, romance, and regret are to his Future Hendrix persona.
