Hope!!

Angélique Kidjo’s HOPE!! is a bright, expansive global pop album built around joy, resilience, and connection. The Beninese singer uses the record as a celebration of hope not as something passive, but as an active force that helps people survive fear, grief, and uncertainty. The music blends Afropop, funk, soul, R&B, highlife, and dance rhythms, giving the album a lively, communal feeling that matches Kidjo’s powerful, generous vocal presence.

The album is also highly collaborative, featuring artists such as Pharrell, Quavo, Ayra Starr, Davido, Nile Rodgers, IZA, PJ Morton, Charlie Wilson, The Cavemen, Fally Ipupa, and others. Songs like “Bando,” “Aye Kan,” “Fall On Me,” “Oyaya,” and “Joy” emphasize movement, uplift, and cross-cultural exchange, while the closing “Malaika” brings a more tender and personal emotional weight. Overall, HOPE!! presents Kidjo as both a musical elder and a restless innovator, turning grief, love, and optimism into a colorful, rhythm-rich statement of perseverance.
