In Copula is the sophomore album by Ebril — the stage name of 22-year-old Iraqi-Canadian artist Huda Al-Hamami, based in Hamilton, Ontario — released independently in January 2025 and later re-released under Universal Music Canada after the album went viral. A fully self-produced, self-performed, and self-recorded work written between the ages of 15 and 20, the album is a deeply intimate ten-track, 29-minute project that blends folk, lo-fi, shoegaze, and ambient music into what SOCAN Magazine describes as "a cohesive and immersive ambient sound." Ebril weaves the songs together with field recordings captured from outside her bedroom window in Hamilton and from the street markets of Amman, Jordan — her childhood home city — grounding the music in a dual sense of place that mirrors the album's central themes of identity, diaspora, and adolescence. As Ebril herself has said, "I built the world I needed."

The album's opening track, "Stranger in You" — a hushed, atmospheric drift of nostalgia-soaked synths and soft acoustic guitar that barely rises above a whisper — became one of 2025's most unexpected viral moments, surpassing one billion views on TikTok and 10 million global streams after listeners latched onto its emotional pull. The Fader noted that while "Stranger in You" set the album's ambient tone, much of In Copula moves between shoegaze texture, choral stacking, and field-recording immersion, with the more energetic "Anticipate Heartbreak" and "Summer Night Joori" offering contrasts — the former described as a punky, lush shoegaze track that evokes longing and purgatory, the latter twinkling with surfrock and synthpop inflections. Paquin Entertainment describes the album's conceptual core as using flora and fauna as metaphors for the experience of growing up as a first-generation immigrant — a form of emotional cartography mapping belonging, freedom, and the space between inner and outer worlds. The viral success led to Ebril signing with Universal Music Canada in November 2025, with new music planned for 2026.
