Nerf Herder’s IV is the Santa Barbara band’s 2008 reunion album, a 13-track return to the witty, hook-heavy pop-punk and geek-rock that made them cult favorites in the 1990s. Built around Parry Gripp’s nasal, instantly recognizable vocals, crunchy power chords, and fast, melodic songwriting, the record uses jokes, nostalgia, and pop-culture references without sacrificing musical craft. Tracks such as “Oh Me, Oh My,” “Golfshirt Pt. 2,” “High School Reunion,” “Dianalee,” “Crocodile,” “Manatee,” and “Led Zeppelin Rules” turn awkward memories and deliberately ridiculous premises into concise, exuberant power-pop songs.

Beneath its comic surface, IV repeatedly returns to familiar Nerf Herder concerns: unrequited love, adolescent embarrassment, nostalgia for cassette-era youth, and the uneasy realization that adulthood has arrived. “High School Reunion” and “The Backpack Song” balance humor with genuine pathos, while the longer “Garage Sale” and “I’m Not a Loser” give the album room to be more reflective. The 2026 edition marks the album’s first vinyl pressing, released on green vinyl by Oglio Entertainment and mastered at the Blasting Room.
