Les Misérables: 40th Anniversary All-Star Cast is a 2026 “ultimate” cast recording of Boublil & Schönberg’s landmark musical, released on May 29 to mark four decades since the show’s original London premiere. Produced by Cameron Mackintosh, Lee McCutcheon, and Stephen Metcalfe for First Night Records and Warner Classics, the album presents the complete contemporary staging of Les Misérables as currently performed on the Arena Concert Spectacular world tour and in the London production, blending the pristine sound of a studio album with the excitement and immediacy of a live performance. Over 43 tracks and nearly three hours—from Prologue / Look Down and Valjean’s Soliloquy through One Day More, The Final Battle, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables and the Epilogue / Do You Hear the People Sing?—the recording captures the full arc of Victor Hugo’s epic story of Jean Valjean’s redemption against the backdrop of 19th‑century France.

The “all-star cast” is drawn from both the Arena Spectacular tour and the London anniversary company and includes Killian Donnelly as Jean Valjean, Bradley Jaden as Javert, Katie Hall as Fantine, Shan Ako as Éponine, Jac Yarrow as Marius, Beatrice Penny‑Touré as Cosette, James D. Gish as Enjolras, Adam Gillen as Thénardier, and Marina Prior as Madame Thénardier, among others. Their performances anchor definitive new renditions of classics like I Dreamed a Dream, On My Own, Bring Him Home, One Day More, and Do You Hear the People Sing?, framed by Mackintosh’s acclaimed “Les Mis for the 21st century” staging, which many reviewers have praised as a reborn, more cinematic vision of the show. The 2‑CD and digital editions feature a full‑color 24‑page booklet with production photography and essays by Mackintosh, Alain Boublil, Claude‑Michel Schönberg, and journalist Dominic Cavendish, positioning the release not just as another cast album but as a commemorative document of the musical’s ongoing global life—an attempt, in Mackintosh’s words, to let listeners feel “right in the midst of the action” and to hear “the perfect cast in the perfect show.”
