Description

Mini World is Indila’s debut (and so far only) studio album, released on 24 February 2014 by Capitol Music France, AZ and Island Def Jam. The 10‑track record runs about 43 minutes and is sung entirely in French, with all songs written by Indila (Adila Sedraïa) and produced by Pascal “Skalp” Koeu, also known as Skalpovich. Stylistically, it blends French variété pop with R&B touches, cinematic strings, and world‑music flourishes—Middle Eastern scales, Balkan‑tinged melodies, and urban rhythms—creating a distinctive, atmospheric sound built around her “crystalline, aerial and powerful” voice and poetic, image‑rich lyrics.

The album is anchored by the breakthrough single “Dernière danse,” whose dramatic, minor‑key chorus and emotional performance introduced Indila to a wide audience, followed by hits “Tourner dans le vide,” “Love Story,” “S.O.S,” and the title track “Mini World.” Deep cuts such as “Run Run,” “Ego,” “Boîte en argent,” and “Tu ne m’entends pas” explore themes of heartbreak, resilience, social pressure, and inner escape, often framing everyday scenes with a sense of melancholy fantasy. Critically, Mini World was praised as an “organic” and inspired debut that set her apart from other young French pop singers, and commercially it was a major success: it debuted at number one in France, topped year‑end charts in Poland, sold over 630,000 copies in France alone and around 850,000 worldwide, and won Revelation Album of the Year at the 2015 Victoires de la Musique.
