Nordic Gothic is the debut album by Cemetery Skyline, a Scandinavian supergroup assembled from some of the most distinguished names in Nordic metal, released on October 11, 2024, via Century Media Records, with a Deluxe Edition following in 2026. The lineup reads like a hall of fame of the scene: Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity, The Halo Effect) on vocals — singing entirely in clean voice for the first time in his career — Markus Vanhala (Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum) on guitars, Santeri Kallio (Amorphis) on keyboards, Victor Brandt (Dimmu Borgir, Witchery) on bass, and Vesa Ranta (Sentenced) on drums. Rather than continuing in the melodic death metal traditions of their primary bands, the five members collectively pivoted toward gothic rock, with Stanne describing the project as "those darker alleys that we hold dear in our hearts but haven't really wandered before." The album's lyrics, written by Stanne, explore what he calls "the self-chosen solitary life of the Nordic people, their anti-social behavior and bleak sense of humor" — a concept he summarizes as the Scandinavian gothic lifestyle.

Across 10 tracks, Nordic Gothic moves with confident, hook-driven energy that draws clear lines of influence from Sisters of Mercy, The Cult, Fields of the Nephilim, Type O Negative, and HIM, while remaining distinctly modern and free of kitsch. Angry Metal Guy calls it "100% pure Goth rock — consistently earwormy and hard-driving," praising it as "one of the rare supergroup projects that fully delivers on its promise." Standout tracks include the powerful double-opener of "Torn Away" and "In Darkness," the immediately infectious "Behind the Lie," the atmospheric piano-driven ballad "The Coldest Heart," and the brooding closer "Alone Together." Verdammnis describes the album as "a cold, dark party that doesn't bother with hypothetical tomorrows," while Metal Temple and Markus' Heavy Music Blog both awarded it 9/10, calling it breathtaking and possessed of genuine "wow factor."
