Description

Outstanding Power is the fifth studio album by Japanese power metal quintet Lovebites, released in Japan on February 18, 2026 via Victor Entertainment and internationally through Napalm Records — marking the band's debut on the Austrian metal label and a significant milestone in their push toward wider global recognition. The album arrives in their tenth anniversary year and was written during the first quarter of 2025 before being recorded over roughly two months in the second half of the year, with mixing handled by Mikko Karmila and mastering by Mika Jussila — two of the most celebrated engineers in European heavy metal. Its cover artwork, created by Spanish studio Easy Rabbit Creation (who have also produced artwork for Helloween), depicts the band's symbolic white wolf aboard a ship surging through storms and raging waves, a metaphor the band has leaned into fully: "Unlike the solid ground of land, the sea never offers stability," they explained in press materials, "yet a ship pushes forward across its surface, never yielding to the crashing waves, raging storms, or roaring thunder." The album also carries the distinction of featuring writing credits from all five members for the first time.

Across twelve tracks spanning just over 64 minutes, Outstanding Power demonstrates both the depth and breadth of Lovebites' musical range. The opening track "The Castaway" charges forward with galloping riffs and shimmering guitar and bass solos in classic power metal fashion, immediately establishing the album's propulsive energy. "Silence the Void" and "Forbidden Thirst" continue the thrash-infused power metal assault, with guitarists Miyako and Midori trading heroic solos throughout. Mid-album standout "Dream of King" is a more theatrical and melodic affair — beginning as a stripped-down, mid-tempo showcase for vocalist Asami before crescendoing into an emotional highlight — while "Blazing Halo" draws on AC/DC-esque dual guitar structures. The album's most vicious moment is "Reaper's Lullaby," which ventures into near-extreme metal territory with gang shouts and thrash-reminiscent riffing, while "Eternally" offers a sweeping power ballad contrast, and closer "One Will Remain" brings the record to a dramatic but heartfelt conclusion.
