Description
Carl Verheyen Band’s Promised Future is a 2026 release built around seven original compositions and two covers, with its physical edition issued August 7 through Cranktone Entertainment. The material developed across three tours before recording, making camaraderie central to the project: Verheyen distinguishes a band album from his solo work through the shared experience and musical understanding that come from extended time on the road. Eight studio performances and one live recording capture that approach, with “Every 20 Seconds,” the title track, “Shallow Harbor,” and “Survive” forming the opening stretch. Rather than assembling an isolated showcase for guitar technique, the album presents songs shaped through repeated performance by a working ensemble.
The two covers give that collective approach a personal dimension. A live version of Supertramp’s “Take the Long Way Home” honors Rick Davies, whom Verheyen describes as a close friend and mentor, while Jesse Colin Young’s “Light Shine” closes the album. The latter choice grew from rediscovering a letter Young had sent in response to Verheyen’s teenage fan mail, linking an early musical inspiration to his present-day band. Between those tributes, “Hippie Wedding,” “Hippie Reception,” and “Dark Angels” complete the original material. Together, the road-tested compositions and carefully chosen covers frame Promised Future as a record about musical relationships—those sustained within the band and those passed down through friendship, mentorship, and influence.
