Rendezvous

Recorded in 2004 at Headgear Studios in Brooklyn, Rendezvous was produced by Luna and Bryce Goggin and released by Jetset Records. The lineup was Dean Wareham, Sean Eden, Britta Phillips and Lee Wall, with Wareham and Eden handling the twin-guitar core. It is Luna’s seventh studio album and the final one made before the group’s 2005 split and later reunion. Its close-miked guitars, understated keyboards and dry drum sound carry the intimate stamp of early-2000s Brooklyn studio recording.

Rendezvous sits between indie rock and dream pop. The track list includes “Malibu Love Nest,” “Speedbumps,” “Astronaut” and the closing “Broken Chair.” The original release appeared on both CD and vinyl through Jetset. It will appeal to listeners drawn to clean, interlocking electric guitars, melodic bass lines and drums that move with a light swing rather than a heavy backbeat.
