Description

Body Type’s Tally is the Sydney quartet’s third album, released on July 24, 2026 through Poison City Records in Australia and New Zealand and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard’s P(doom) Records elsewhere. Produced by Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa, the ten-song record preserves Body Type’s angular post-punk energy while widening its palette with cleaner pop melodies, mellotron, bongos, clapping rhythms, and more spacious arrangements. It is their first album made with an outside producer, and that collaboration gives the band’s guitar-driven songs a more detailed, flexible sound without sacrificing their irreverent edge.

Lyrically, Tally balances deadpan humor and sharp social observation with uncertainty, romantic vulnerability, and self-questioning. The singles “And What Else?,” “Mulberry,” and “Sick Bag” set its tone: the first is a catchy, sarcastic look at validation, “Mulberry” turns everyday images into a reflection on self-dissolution, and “Sick Bag” uses mellotron to heighten its uneasy intimacy. The title track transforms the awkwardness of chasing friends for unpaid debts into choppy alternative rock and a deadpan chorus, while “Planet 8” brings playful B-52’s-like vocal energy and “Everything All in a Row” closes the record with sighing guitar lines that gradually intensify. Overall, Tally is a lively, shape-shifting indie-rock album—spiky and funny on the surface, but increasingly reflective and emotionally open underneath.
