Description

The Darker Side of Nonsense — 25th Anniversary Edition is a reissue of Dry Kill Logic's debut studio album, originally released on June 5, 2001 via Roadrunner Records — and notably the band's only release on that label. The Westchester, New York metal quartet, composed of vocalist Cliff Rigano, guitarist Scott Thompson, bassist Dave Kowatch, and drummer Phil Arcuri, were frequently lumped in with the nu-metal movement of the early 2000s, though their sound drew more directly from the brutality of Pantera, Tool, Fear Factory, and Sepultura. Produced by Eddie Wohl and Steve Regina with additional contributions from guitarist Rob Caggiano, the original album packed 12 tracks of dense, aggressive heavy metal into under 44 minutes, with all lyrics written by Rigano. The record peaked at number 27 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart and went on to move over 100,000 copies, cementing its status as a cult touchstone of the alternative metal era.

For this 25th anniversary reissue, released June 5, 2026 through Real Gone Music, the album has been remastered specifically for its first-ever vinyl pressing, making this a genuine debut for the format. The original "beautifully grotesque" artwork by Alexander Kneselac has been faithfully re-created across a full jacket and color inner sleeve, and the edition is pressed on milky clear vinyl with the full support of the band. Tracks like "Nightmare," "Rot," and "Give Up, Give In, Lie Down" demonstrate why the album has remained a touchstone for fans of heavy music from that era, with Rigano's confrontational lyrics — "What goes around comes around / Once lost now I am found / All of this hatred I focus on you" — hitting just as hard now as they did on the original release.
