Description

The Seventh Plague of Babylon is the second studio album by Athenian heavy metal band Medusa's Wrath, released on June 5, 2026 through Sleaszy Rider Records. It follows the band's 2024 debut Pavor Exitium Mors and represents a confident step forward in cementing their place within the classic and traditional heavy metal scene. Rooted in NWOBHM and power metal traditions, the album draws clear sonic comparisons to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Omen, and Helstar, built around sharp galloping riffs, virtuoso dual guitar solos, a tight rhythm section, and the powerful, wide-ranging vocals of Giorgos Chrisanthidis.

Conceptually, the album takes its title from the seventh plague of Egypt described in the Book of Exodus — the plague of hail and fire — reimagined in an apocalyptic and mythological register. The narrative follows Medusa herself traversing the ancient world and arriving in Babylon to exact vengeance, weaving together themes of judgment, destruction, suffering, witchcraft, serpents, and redemption. The nine-track record runs just under 39 minutes and maintains a dramatic, cinematic atmosphere throughout, with tracks like "Breaking the Spell" and "Eternal" drawing early praise from the underground metal community for their anthemic qualities and lyrical weight. The album's imagery is said to incorporate dark, apocalyptic visuals — serpents, ruins of Babylon, and biblical plague iconography — all tightly aligned with the band's thematic identity.
