Unadulterated

Roman Candle’s Unadulterated is the Las Vegas quartet’s debut full-length, released April 24, 2026, through Sumerian Records. Following their 2022 EP Discount Fireworks, the 12-track album sharpens the band’s blend of screamo, hardcore, and metalcore into something more focused without sacrificing its volatility. Vocalist Piper Ferrari anchors the record with anguished screams and intimate spoken passages, while abrasive guitars, punishing breakdowns, and flashes of melody turn personal experiences of violence and abuse into songs defined by catharsis. Self-produced by guitarist Jonas Vece, it balances more developed arrangements with the confrontational energy of the band’s earlier material.

“My Silence Costs More Than You Can Afford” channels the grinding intensity of Converge, while “Lady Lazarus” moves toward the emotionally direct territory associated with Touché Amoré. Those reference points place Unadulterated within a recognizable hardcore and screamo lineage, but Ferrari’s delivery gives its familiar textures a compelling human center. The spoken-word “For Once My Hands Are Still” provides a chilling late-album shift, and “How to Be Considered When You’re Not in the Room” brings the record to its close. Its intensity can feel overwhelming, and some critics found its influences more apparent than its individuality, but the album establishes Roman Candle as a band able to turn vulnerability into force without smoothing away the discomfort.
