Description

V for Vendetta (2005), directed by James McTeigue and based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore and David Lloyd, is a dystopian political thriller set in a future totalitarian Britain. The story follows Evey Hammond, a young woman who is rescued by a mysterious masked vigilante known only as “V.” Charismatic and enigmatic, V wages a revolutionary war against the fascist government, using acts of terrorism and symbolic gestures to inspire the oppressed citizens to rise up. Central to his identity is the Guy Fawkes mask, which becomes a symbol of resistance against tyranny.

As Evey becomes entangled in V’s mission, she undergoes her own transformation, moving from fear and compliance to courage and self-realization. The film explores powerful themes such as government control, censorship, personal freedom, and the cost of resistance. V himself is portrayed as both hero and anti-hero, raising questions about morality, justice, and whether violent rebellion can be justified in the face of oppression.
