Description

Volume Tree is the third full-length studio album by Swedish heavy rock quartet Tidal Wave, released on June 5, 2026 via California-based Ripple Music. Hailing from Sundsvall in northern Sweden, the band — vocalist Alexander "Sunkan" Sundqvist, guitarist Jesper "Jupiter" Sjödin, bassist Adam "Aden" Nordin, and drummer Rasmus "Raz" Sundberg — recorded the eight-track album across three different studios and had it mixed by three separate engineers, a deliberate approach intended to give each song its own distinct atmosphere and soundscape. All tracks were then mastered by Joona Hassinen at Studio Underjord, with cover artwork by Kristoffer Nordgren of Prettyshittyinc. The album follows their 2019 debut Blueberry Muffin and 2023's The Lord Knows, and represents the band at their heaviest and most sonically ambitious to date.

Musically, Volume Tree draws from a rich vein of classic heavy rock tradition — Black Sabbath worship, desert rock riffing, and a pronounced grunge undercurrent from 90s Seattle — while pushing into more progressive and sinister territory than the band's earlier work. Tracks like the sprawling "Earth" lean into Sabbath-style doom, "Hangman" channels grunge influence, and the mid-album centerpiece "Temple of Humanity" reveals a more progressive side of the band's writing. The lead single "Sideburns" provides a sharp contrast — a fast, snarling two-and-a-half-minute blast built around a bully's redemption tale — while the album closes with the brooding "Skitliv." Running just under 40 minutes, Volume Tree has been described as the most coherent and fully realized statement Tidal Wave have made, cementing their place within Ripple Music's roster of essential heavy rock acts.
