Description

Convulse’s World Without God (Reissue) revisits the Finnish group’s landmark early death-metal debut, originally released in 1991. The album is a compact, 37-minute assault built from thick, distorted guitar riffs, bluntly forceful drumming, low guttural vocals, and an atmosphere of decay and blasphemy. Tracks such as “Putrid Intercourse,” “Incantation of Restoration,” “False Religion,” and “Godless Truth” show the band working in a raw old-school death-metal style, but with an especially murky, grimy tone that helped distinguish Convulse within the Finnish scene.

The reissue foregrounds the record’s status as a cult classic while giving listeners additional archival material. Several editions include the 1990 Resuscitation of Evilness demo—whose early versions of “Putrid Intercourse,” “Godless Truth,” “Resuscitation of Evilness,” and “Powerstruggle of Belief” document the band’s formative sound—and some prior reissues also feature live cuts, including a cover of Venom’s “Countess Bathory.” The newer Svart editions have been presented as band-approved remasters with expanded packaging such as liner notes, flyers, and memorabilia, making World Without God (Reissue) both a ferocious death-metal record and a historical document of Convulse’s foundational period.
